Albury, NSW. 21 December 1970. A happy reunion at Albury airport for 52503 Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Terence E Lyon, of No. 2 Advanced Ordnance Depot (2ADO), when he was greeted by his wife, Lynette, and two daughters, Susan and Sandra, on his return from Vietnam for his rest and recreation leave. He joined the Australian Army in September 1952 and served in Korea when only eighteen and served in Vietnam from June 1970. On the 9 February 1971 W02 Lyon and 17101 Captain Grant S Ross, Headquarters Australian Force Vietnam (HQ AFV), were both accidentally killed at Nui Dat while inspecting some faulty artillery ammunition which exploded.
