Cairo, Egypt. 30 March 1942. Standing on the airfield, General (Gen) George H. Brett, Chief of the Allied Air Forces, in Australia (right), chats to Air Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder KCB, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Middle East Air Forces. Gen Brett spent a period in the Middle East studying the problems of supplies and maintenance of American aircraft and equipment, and made an extensive tour of the Western Desert.
