Description
The wreckage of a German Heinkel III bomber aircraft which was shot down early on the morning of 8 April 1942, lies burned out and twisted at the edge of a salt lake near Alexandria. The enemy bomber, interrupted by one of the British night fighters over the area, was one of two destroyed by the same Canadian pilot. RAF officers arrived by car to examine the remains of the aircraft.
