Western Desert, Libya. 2 June 1942. One of the Axis prisoner of war (POW) captured in the third Libyan campaign was this heavily be-medalled Colonel of the Italian Air Force. His transport aircraft was shot down by an RAF fighter only a few minutes after its departure from the battlefront.
