Newsreel produced by the Directorate of Public Relations RAAF. [Item 1] RAAF in Thailand. Coverage of the activities of No. 79 Squadron RAAF at Ubon, Thailand. Shows the Squadron's Sabre jets armed with AIM-9 Sidewinders air to air guided missiles. Armourers loading 30mm ammunition for the Sabre's Aden cannon. Hercules transport aircraft of No. 36 Squadron RAAF which brought in all the material and supplies for the base. Pay parade at Ubon and visit to Ubon township by personnel on leave. [Item 2] Wagga honours RAAF. On Saturday 29 July 1961 RAAF Base Wagga received the Freedom of the City at Wagga cricket ground. Officer Commanding the base Group Captain A.T. Fay invited the Deputy Major to inspect the parade. Air Marshal Scherger addressed the citizens of Wagga. Group Captain Fay received the scroll. Flypast by Winjeel and Vampire trainer aircraft. March past through the streets of Wagga to the cenotaph. The Minister for Air placed a wreath to commemorate the citizens of Wagga. The next day was an open day at the RAAF base. Activities included a fire fighting demonstration and a flying display by Winjeels from RAAF Point Cook and Vampire jet trainers from RAAF East Sale. Canberra bombers from RAAF Amberley staged a flypast.
