Description

Newsreel produced by the Directorate of Public Relations RAAF on the production of the Mirage 111O supersonic fighter. Shows aerial views of the aircraft factories at Fishermen's Bend. Drawing offices. Department of Supply factory Electrical section. The Commonweath Aircraft Corporation manufactured the fins engine and wings. Testing the Mirage's Atar jet engine in the Engine Test Centre. Department of Supply factory at Avalon. Test flight of Mirage. Take off and air to air shots. On 29 January 1964 the Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies precided over the hand over ceremony of the first Mirage. Minister of Supply Mr Fairhall hands over log books to Mr Fairbairn the Minister for Air.
