A wild afternoon storm bears down on the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) base at Ubon, Thailand. The RAAF and USAF both shared the Ubon base in a demonstration of military support for a fellow SEATO member country which was facing an increasing threat of communist insurgency from neighbouring countries. Thailand also had to deal with internal threats to its political stability during the Vietnam War. Australia deployed Sabre aircraft to Thailand from 1962 to 1968.
