Corporal (Cpl) Stewart G Wood proudly examines a plaque he has received, before returning home to Australia for discharge. Since joining 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), he has excelled in Rugby League, athletics, softball and basketball. Last week Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) F S Walsh, Commanding Officer of 3RAR, made a joint presentation of an engraved plaque to Cpl Wood and Cpl C S 'Cliff' Johnston who have been together since the Second World War (WWII), where they saw action together at Tarakan with the Pioneers. The plaque took the form of the Battalion crest and was inscribed with the words, `For good conduct, and outstanding service'. In making the presentation, Lt Col Walsh said, `The excellent bearing and exemplary conduct and service displayed by Cpl Wood and Cpl Johnston, both on and off duty, has been noted throughout the whole of their service with the Battalion'.
