Description
New Britain. Alligator amphibious craft were used extensively in the assault on Arawe. The 'Alligator' is an amphibious weapons-personnel carrier, with caterpillar tracks and scoops, enabling it to negotiate coral reefs and forge ahead to the beach. The Alligator is among the palms of Amulet plantation, which extends along the whole length of the Peninsula, invaded by the forces under the supreme command of General MacArthur.
