Description
New Guinea. US amphibious weapons-troop carriers, known as 'Alligators', undergoing intensive training exercises in the South West Pacific out on the sea. This type of craft has been used extensively in the war against the Japanese. In the early days of the war the Allies were obliged to think in terms of defence, but the 'Alligators' are essentially an offensive weapon.
