Description
New Britain. The American assault troops set to work to dig slit trenches as a protection against possible aerial bombing or strafing, as soon as they landed at Arawe. Japanese dive-bomber aircraft and fighter aircraft screamed down to attack the troops as they landed but they were driven off and Allied losses were relatively light.
