New Guinea. Australian Medical Women's Auxiliary Service girls take it in turn to wait on tables at messtime. In the kitchen of a hospital are, left to right, Private (Pte) Dawn Whitter of Moonee Ponds, Vic, dishing up the vegetables, Pte Len Jarvis of Toorak, Vic, cook, carving the meat, Pte Helen Parker of Killara, NSW, and Pte Nan Lyon of Beecroft, NSW, ladling the soup into bowls. Before the war Pte Parker was a socialite, and Pte Whitter an accountant's clerk.
