Portrait of 6288 Private (Pte) George Russell Beveridge, motor driver, of Grassmere, Victoria. He enlisted in the 22nd Battalion on 16 October 1916 and embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on 23 November 1916 for Plymouth, England. He joined the battalion on the Western Front in France in April 1917. Pte Beveridge was wounded in action near Passchendaele on 4 October 1917 and died of these wounds at No 10 General Hospital, Rouen, France, on 11 October 1917, aged 23 years (Donor Mrs J.B.N. Beveridge)
