Using a stretcher as a table, left to right: Staff Sergeant Robert Ward of Pennsylvania, Pte Ralf Rebber of Indiana, Corporal Robert Kopp of Ohio, and Pte Walter Koch of Ohio, enjoy themselves at a game of cards while waiting for the water to recede. Torrential rain flooded many of the USA 6th Army men out of their tents in northern New Guinea and gear had to be salvaged with the aid of belly-tank rafts.
