Description
North Korea. October 1950. Vickers machine gunners of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), await a chance to chop up enemy targets from the crest of a hill during their northward advance after Pakchon. As this was taken, the hill was being peppered by enemy small arms fire, which ceased soon after the Vickers gunners started to enfilade enemy positions. The accurate use of the Vickers here proved the value of intensive battle training in Haramura, Japan, where troops established a high standard of marksmanship with the Vickers, which is proving its effectiveness in its third war.
