Tripolitania, Libya. 17 February 1943. The rice pudding and the tarts have been baked. The Cornish pasties, made of bully beef, onions and potatoes, go into the oven. The potatoes, which are tinned and partially cooked, are ready after only a few minutes on the top of the stove. The peas are in the saucepan.
