Description
Aitape, New Guinea. Private Lyle Carter of Bathurst, NSW, cooling off in a river. He is one of the engineers, who helped to build bridges over the numerous streams and rivers, on the route taken by the Aussies on their drive down the northern coast, towards Wewak. Note the new style of military boot (TS), tropical studded pattern, and the sprays of water coming from holes in the hat.
