Air Vice Marshal Sir Arthur Coningham, Air Officer Commanding Western Desert, talking with Colonel Backus, Commanding Officer of a Bombardment Group of the US Army Air Force (USAAF) after he addressed a meeting of staff officers, squadron leaders and flight commanders who led squadrons of the air striking forces during the winter campaign at Castel Benito airfield, near Tripoli. Officers of the RAF, RAAF, South African Air Force and USAAF were present.
