Description
Nui Dat, Vietnam. c. 1967. An Iroquois (Huey) helicopter parked on the right at the 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR) base camp pad is one of No. 9 Squadron RAAF helicopters. The Sioux helicopter on the right is from 161 Independent Reconnaissance Flight. Both helicopters flew in to the camp daily to support 6RAR, providing operational re-supply, troop movement, casualty evacuation and many other tasks. There are water cans lined up beside the Huey probably waiting for loading to re-supply the battalion out on an operation. Note the rubber trees in the background as 6RAR camp is set in a rubber plantation. (Donor W. Cox)
