Description
Hand coloured portrait of Lorraine Dawson, dancer, in a Russian peasant costume worn in a street concert in King's Cross to support the Russian war effort. Many of the costumes she wore were made by herself or her sister, Shirley Dawson. Miss Dawson trained a group of girls known as the "Dancing Darlings" and the dancing troupe performed with her at concerts and fundraising functions as well as entertaining troops based in Sydney. Miss Dawson also worked for the American Entertainment Unit based in Sydney.
