Korea. 4 December 1951. General (Gen) James Van Fleet, Commanding General of the 8th US Army, inspects unidentified troops of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), in their lines before bestowing the US Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation. At General Van Fleet's right is the 3RAR Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Hassett. Walking behind Gen Van Fleet is Major General John W O'Daniel, Commander of I Corps. Note that General Van Fleet is wearing a Smith and Wesson revolver with ivory grips.
