Description
General James Van Fleet, Commanding the 8th US Army (left), shaking hands with an unidentified chosen member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), after he has bestowed the US Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation. The other soldier (front, right) is Private Davies of Wanganui, NZ, and of 3RAR. These men were chosen from among Kapyong veterans still with the battalion to receive the device on their mates' behalf. Note that General Van Fleet is wearing a Smith and Wesson revolver with ivory hand grips.
