Description

Korea. c. 1951. Private (Pte)3/400317 Archibald Roy McDonald of Moonee Ponds, VIC, wears the new British winter combat clothes, while laid out in front of him is a set of the many items he uses to keep the Arctic chill out. In front, left to right: woollen drawers, woollen singlet, parka, combat smock and hood, combat trousers, pyjama-type white drawers, heavy jumper, cold-weather warfare boots, cap comforter, heavy wool socks, woollen wristlets, muffler, string vest, necksquare, puttees, peaked cap, and wet-cold-proofed gloves. Pte McDonald is a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Private McDonald was killed in action on 21 July 1952 in Korea.
