Description

Larry Adler (right) performs for troops on an impromptu stage in a camp in Korea. Larry is playing his mouth organ (harmonica) and is being accompanied on guitar by Signalman F H Allison from Nova Scotia, Canada. In the late 1940's Larry Adler had been placed on Senator McCarthy's and the House on Un-American Activities Committee's blacklist, and moved from the United States of America to the United Kingdom. In 1951 he toured bases and hospitals in Japan and Korea, during the Korean War. The stage at this camp consists of matting covering the ground, and blankets tacked up behind the performers. The audience includes members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Note the banjo lying on a blanket behind the performers.
