Winner of the second Victoria Cross (VC) to be awarded for gallantry in the Korean War, Private William Speakman of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders attached to B Company (right), has the crimson VC ribbon pinned on him by Major General A. J. H. Cassels, Commander of the Commonwealth Division. The presentation was made during a special parade in the Battalion lines in Korea. The first Investiture of Queen Elizabeth II's reign took place at Buckingham Palace on 27th February 1952 where Speakman was the first person presented to her to receive his award.
