Description
2190 Private (Pte) Adam Hamilton Muntz Johnston, a soldier of the 57th Battalion Pioneers, 5th Division, marking a captured German gun at Guillacourt, a trophy which was subsequently forwarded to the Australian War Museum. The gun was one of the large number taken by the Australian troops in their advance which commenced on 8 August 1918 and it and its carriage were left by the enemy blocking the road taken by our ration limbers. On 29 September 1918 Pte Johnston was killed in action at Bellicourt during one of the last actions the AIF fought on the Western Front.
