Adams Mark III Revolver : Lieutenant Colonel J V O'Lochlin, South Australian Military Forces
Adams Mark III double action, six shot military revolver. Frame marked on the right side with the serial number and ADAMS'S PATENT within an oval. The left side has an arrow over WD III and 8.78. The grips are one piece checkered wood. The serial number is also stamped on the cylinder.
This revolver belonged to James Vincent O'Loghlin (1852-1925) who had a distinguished career as a journalist, politician and in military affairs. He raised and commanded the Irish Company of the 10th Infantry Regiment from 1901 to 1910. During World War One he was the first Senator accepted for overseas service and between 1915-17 was a transport officer commanding reinforcements for the Australian Imperial Force with the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He returned to politics in 1917 and retired from the political scene in 1922 due to ill health. He died from tuberculosis in 1925.
