A cross and wreath mark the grave in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Plot 3, Row B, Grave 5, of 404580 Sergeant (Sgt) Joseph William Clarke, RAAF Wireless Operator, of No. 459 Squadron RAAF, who died 10 July 1942. Sgt Clarke's promotion to Flight Sergeant had probably not reached his unit before his time of death. He was the son of Frank and Mina Clarke; husband of Lorna Jean Clarke of Woollahra, NSW. Hadra is a district on the eastern side of Alexandria.
