A cross and wreath mark the grave in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Plot 3, Row B, Grave 15, of 401383 Sergeant (Sgt) Herbert Edmond Lake, RAAF Wireless Operator, of No. 459 Squadron RAAF, who died 10 July 1942. Sgt Lake's promotion to Flight Sergeant had probably not reached his unit before his time of death. He was the son of Harold and Jessie Maud Amelia Lake of Ballarat, Vic; husband of Stella Adele Lake of Geelong, Vic. Hadra is a district on the eastern side of Alexandria.
