Description

Cairo, Egypt. 31 December 1943. The Alamein Club, gift of the Egyptian people to the Allied Forces, was the scene of a New Year party at which were present members of the forces of Great Britain, the United States, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. A toast is drunk to 'Victory in 1944'. At the piano is Airwoman Kathleen Clampitt, Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF), of London, seated on the floor is Leading Aircraftman G. M. O'Brien of Thornbury, Vic.
