Barker, Ray (Acting Corporal, b.1920 - d.1942)
Description
Letter of NX51170 Acting Corporal Ray Barker (2/19th Battalion) to his girlfriend shortly before the fall of Singapore, describing his retreat with Australian forces from Malaya to Singapore, and a letter from a woman through whom it (along with others) was initially addressed. Barker, among the Australian reinforcements on the British transport 'Aquitania', was missing presumed dead around 15 February 1942. Includes a photograph of Barker and a page of autographs of members of the 2/15th Battalion.
