Nui Dat, South Vietnam. July 1967. Trench digging for troops of the 1st Australian Task Force ...
Description
Nui Dat, South Vietnam. July 1967. Trench digging for troops of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) is now much easier. One of the greatest boons to the soldier given the job of sinking a trench or building a fortified machine gun post is the new petrol powered mechanical digger being used here by Private Bill Minnett of Balgowlah, NSW. The mechanical digger cuts time for the job by 70 per cent and blisters by 95 per cent. The start of the monsoon season in the Task Force area and the subsequent threat of increased Viet Cong activity has made the fortifications construction a priority job.
