Baseball bats, iron piping and axe handles used as weapons by Japanese Prisoners of War (POWs) found in and around the Cowra POW camp immediately after the escape attempt by 1100 POWs in the early hours of the morning on 5 August 1944. 231 Japanese POWs and four Australian soldiers were killed during the escape.
