An Australian Army issue bayonet with blood on the point found near the northern gate of Cowra Prisoner of War (POW) Camp immediately after the escape attempt by 1100 POWs in the early hours of the morning on 5 August 1944. 231 Japanese POWs and four Australian soldiers were killed during the escape.
