The grave of 467 Corporal (Cpl) Anderson McIntosh, 15th Battalion, 5125 Private (Pte) Robert Ernest Payne, 3rd Battalion and an unidentified British serviceman. Cpl McIntosh, a native of Tillicoultry, Scotland, embarked with the rank of Private with C Company from Melbourne on HMAT Ceramic on 22 December 1914. Whilst serving at Gallipoli, he was promoted to Corporal and, after being wounded in action, was transferred to Malta where, on 19 August 1915 aged 39, he succumbed to his wounds. Pte Payne, a native of Glasgow, Scotland embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Seang Bee on 11 February 1915. After being wounded in action at Gallipoli, he was transferred to Malta where, on 18 August 1915 he died of tetanus, aged 21. All three men are buried in the Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
