Informal portrait of 4182 Sergeant (Sgt) Albert 'Barney' Clothier, an indigenous serviceman of Adelaide, SA, wearing his American Winter Cap. Sgt Clothier, who served in the Second World War, is a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). The Australian rising sun hat badge in the centre of his cap acts as a distinguishing mark, and is especially useful in this respect when American wind jackets and winter trousers are worn.
