Description

Women and children leave immediately before the Australian troops swept the village for North Vietnamese soldiers. A portion of a tank is in the foreground. Troops of D company, 5 Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR), supported by Centurion MkV/1 tanks of B Squadron, 1st Armoured Regiment, swept towards the edge of a rubber plantation, five miles north of the 1 Australian Task Force (1ATF) base at Nui Dat. The Australians inflicted heavy casualties on a strong force of North Vietnamese Army (NVA) soldiers.
