History / Summary

The L1A1 HB SLR , infantry arm, was developed to offer the Australian Army a weapon with some sustained fire capability. The concept however developed numerous technical difficulties which were never compeletly resolved. As a result, only small numbers of L1A1 HB (heavy barrel) rifles were issued for specialised tasks.
