Description
Men at the dockyard at Jones Bay hoist the gun carriage of the German railway gun known as the "Amiens gun" from the hold of the ship which transported it, guiding it mid air and secured by a number of ropes. It was captured by troops of the 8th Infantry Brigade, 5th Australian Division on 8 August 1918. The barrel is now on display at the Australian War Memorial.
