The grave of 1334 Private (Pte) Arthur William Pike, 16th Battalion, 1562 Pte Edward Robson (served as David Hardie), 8th Battalion and 118 Pte Frank Hughes, 10th Battalion. Pte Pike, a native of London, England was a labourer from Adelaide prior to enlistment and embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Clan McGillivray on 2 February 1915. After being wounded at Gallipoli he was evacuated to Malta where, on 31 July 1915 he died from spinal meningitis, aged 31. Pte Robson, a native of Durham, England had previously served with the 3rd Durham Artillery before emigrating and was a plumber from Melbourne prior to enlistment and embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Runic on 19 January 1915. After being wounded at Gallipoli he was evacuated to Malta where on 21 July 1915 he died as a result of his wounds, aged 36. Pte Hughes, a native of London, England was a cook from Adelaide, SA prior to enlistment and embarked with C Company from Adelaide on HMAT Ascanius on 20 October 1914. On 27 July 1915 he was wounded in action at Gallipoli and was evacuated to Malta where, on 3 August 1918, he died as a result of his wounds. All three men are buried in the Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
