Description
Informal portrait of Private Don McKinnon, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), of Mt Gambier, SA. He joined the Army in 1943 and his first service was with the Citizen Military Force (CMF) in the 24th Battalion. He later served with them during the war on Bougainville. After his discharge he returned to Mt Gambier and later re-enlisted in K Force in 1952, and came to Korea in May last year. Pte McKinnon is carryng his .303 Bren light machine gun over his shoulder during a training exercise.
