Description
Korea. December 1953. This winter in Korea was not the most severe the troops have experienced. They can generally count on the washing thawing out by 11 a.m. At left Private (Pte) N. (Picky) Pickford of Hamilton, NSW, holds up his frozen shirt by the sleeves and Pte G. (Squirrel) Birrell of South Melbourne, Vic (right), balances his board-like towel. In the middle with the long johns is Joe, a twelve-year-old Korean houseboy who works for the Australians at the 28th Brigade Headquarters. Note the other washing still hanging on the line in the background.
