Japanese Naval Officer's Kai-gunto Sword
Description
Japanese Naval Officer's sword (kai-gunto) . Blade tang marked Seki (Arsenal) Forges (post 1942), Mino Province, made by Masahiro. Family name unreadable. Wrapped around the tang was a postcard being the invoice or indent for three swords (2 Army and 1 Naval) types to the family of Matsuyama. The blade manufacturer is stated as Sataro Nakamura of Mie Prefecture, Tsunami City. On the reverse the writing refers to prayers and other personnal messages. Pommel ring for sword knot is missing.
