The Australian Minister for the Air and Navy, The Honourable William McMahon (front row, left), has arrived at Tokyo, during his visit to Japan and Korea. Here he stands with a group of RAN, RAAF and Australian Army officers at an official outdoor function. He is holding his hat over his heart while the officers salute, probably during the playing of the National Anthem. Identifiable in the front row of the group are Dr E R Walker, Australian Ambassador to Japan (third from left) and Lieutenant General W Bridgeford MC CBE CB, Commander in Chief British Commonwealth Forces Korea (BCFK) (right).
