Description
Two members of 102nd Field Battery standing near their number 6 gun in the morning after an attack on Fire Support Base (FSB) Coral by members of 141 Regiment, North Vietnamese Army, (NVA). The gun was overrun during the attack and had to be abandoned. After the attack was repulsed, the crew returned to find the gun badly damaged and the adjacent ammunition bay burnt out, (although no ammunition exploded). Number 5 gun can be seen in the background. The NVA launched a number of pre dawn attacks on FSB Coral between 13 and 16 May 1968. Two 7.62 mm L1A1 self-loading rifles, two 5.56 mm M16A1 automatic rifles and a 9 mm F1 sub machine gun are leaning against the tyre of the gun.
