Private A. Master (probably VX87158 Andrew Francis Masterson) of Footscray, Vic, playing bagpipes at Yamil No. 3, Maprick Area, for two mates the night before he gave selection two hours after the capture of this position. Identified left to right are ; Masterson; VX45500 Corporal John Edward Reynolds of Curlwaa, NSW; VX32768 Ivor White of Carnegie, Victoria, all of the 2/5 Battalion. Four days later, on 14 July 1945, Reynolds was killed in action.
