Los Negros, Admiralty Islands, New Guinea. September 1944. Lockheed P38 Lightning of No. 432 Squadron, 475th Fighter Group, 5th US Army Air Force, being refuelled by No. 79 (Spitfire) Squadron RAAF personnel on Momote airfield. Note the 475th Fighter Group was based at Sorido airfield on Biak during September 1944. The purpose of their visit to Momote is not known, but it was during a lull in their operations before the invasion of the Philippines Islands and the visiting pilots were the senior officers in the squadrons of the 475th Group.
