Description

The graves of 2275 Private (Pte) Hubert Rigaud Rathbone, 12th Battalion and two unidentified British servicemen. A farmer from Granton, Tas prior to enlistment, Pte Rathbone embarked with the 6th Reinforcements from Fremantle HMAT Wandilla on 25 June 1915. Whilst serving at Gallipoli, he contracted enteric fever and was evacuated to Tigne Hospital, Malta where he died on 10 October 1915 aged 22. All three servicemen are buried in the Pieta Military, Malta. Pte Rathbone's brother, 7790 Pte Percy Rigaud Rathbone was later killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux, France whilst serving with the 40th Battalion.
