Description

Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Grave of one British and two Australian servicemen. The Australians are 371 Private (Pte) M K Beaver of the 4th Battalion AIF, and 1324/a Pte John Robert Fraser of the 15th Battalion AIF.
Pte Maxwell Keith Beaver, a flour miller of Sydney, NSW, enlisted on 20 August 1914 and embarked for Alexandria on HMAT Euripides on 20 October 1914. He sailed to Gallipoli in April 1915 and was wounded in action on 24 May 1915. Pte Beaver was evacuated to Valletta, Malta, but died of wounds on 9 June 1915, aged 21 years.
Pte John Robert Fraser, a farmer of Wollongong, NSW enlisted in Brisbane on 3 December 1914 and embarked on HMAT Seang Bee on 13 February 1915 for the Dardanelles. He was wounded in action at Gallipoli on 19 May 1915. Pte Fraser was evacuated to Valletta, Malta, but died of wounds on 10 June 1915, aged 27 years.
