Description
Headstone image of Lieutenant (Lt) Edward Addy. Originally from Great Yarmouth, England, Lt Addy had previously served for 22 years with the Norfolk Regiment and was currently serving with the Instructional Staff prior to his enlistment in the AIF. He embarked for overseas service with the rank of Warrant Officer with Headquarters, 9th Battalion from Brisbane on HMAT Omrah on 24 September 1914. Later serving at Gallipoli he was promoted to Lieutenant and was evacuated to Malta suffering from dysentery. On 18 August 1915, aged 43, He succumbed to his illness and was buried in the Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. (DONOR PRESIDENT OF MALTA)
